Use a Painting Contractor or Do-it-yourself?
When you are deciding whether you will hire a painting contractor or will do the job itself, you have to weigh in several factors.
Some of the most important things you have to take into consideration are the following:
Cost/Budget- if you decide to do the job yourself, you have to keep in mind that not only you have to allot a certain period of time on this project; you also have to have the materials that is needed for the job. You need to buy the paint, roller brush, paper towels, tapes, rags, plastic drop cloths, tarps, even ladder for you to reach the highest area, etc. Not only that you have to buy materials, you also have to be familiar with what you need and how to use them.
Experience- this is another consideration that you need to keep in mind. If you have completed the same job before and did not encounter any problems then you may opt to do the house painting yourself. But this will always depend on your time availability. If, on the other hand, you have no experience in wall painting, choosing a painting contractor would be a better idea. Painting contractors that have the experience will no longer find it hard to perform the job. There is a risk of fewer mistakes thus you can guarantee that the job will be completed on the right time.
Reality- the quality of the job is quite different when you do the job yourself compared to when you hire a paint contractor. Of course, it would look more real and professionally done if you hire a paint contractor to do the painting. If you encounter a problem, a paint contractor will be able to fix it in a given time so you will not have to worry about having the job in a pending mode.
Hiring a paint contractor is way much wiser than doing the painting job yourself. Do contact us if you want us to help you in painting your home. Click Here to contact us for painting appointment, or read “What’s Included When I Used Your Painting Services?” post.
Condomium Restriction For Painting Services In Singapore
As condos are increasing in numbers in Singapore, so will our condo painting too. That is why I like to share on the condo restriction for painting services.
As house painting is under the renovation category, we will have to follow the rules for a typical condo in Singapore:
1) Work timing. We can only proceed into the condo from 9am onward and leave by 5pm the same day. This is due to most residents would be working, and not a lot of residents in their home.
2) No renovation work on Sunday. As most residents will not be working on Sunday. So they make it a strict rule not to have renovation works on Sunday.
So does that mean that the painting works can only be done mostly on weekdays?
The good news is that although house painting is under renovation works, but the condo managements also realised that most of the time we do not create a lot of noise. That is why, the condo owners just have to inform the security and management of the condo that painting will be done on Sunday, and promised that noise will be at the minimal. And most of the time the security and management would agree.
Attention Condo Owners Doing Painting For your Home
As our painters had to leave by 5pm, do come over at 4.30pm to take over the condo. If it’s the last day of the painting, do come at 3.30pm as you need to inspect our work. So we will have time to do touch-ups on the area that you are not satisfied in.

Painting Price To Increase Soon, Due To Foreign Worker Levy Increase
The foreign worker levy has increased since 1st July 2011 from $180 to $230, an increase of about 27.7%. The levy will soon increase to $380 before July 2013.

=> Click here to download the foreign worker levy till July 2013.
We will be increasing our painting price soon, as it’s not profitable for us to continue on the current painting price. So if you are looking to use our painting services, do contact us before our price increase.
Is Our Painting Workers Legal?
We have heard people have used illegal painters to paint their home or work place. We like to share with you, we do not have illegal painters working with us, all our workers are legal. Meaning we paid levy to Singapore government to have them work in Singapore.
This was one of the questions when I was returning call to a enquirer today. She first asked if our painters are Singaporean, I answered no, then she asked if they are legal, and “Yes” is my answer. Why do people ask this question?
I think the main reason is to avoid trouble. Trouble from the authorities and trouble from the illegal painters.
Trouble from authorities. As you know that Singapore government is very strict in illegal workers working here, I am not sure as a customer what you will get from the authorities if you know that the painters are illegal. I can only say, “do anything you want, but don’t get caught“.
Trouble from illegal painters. I heard that Malaysian painters are coming over to Singapore to work illegally as a painter. They can charged lower rates than the legal painters, because they do not need to paint levy and the Malaysian currency is weaker than Singapore’s. So the Malaysian painters will still earn more even when they offer lower price than our legal Singapore painters.
Another thing is that the illegal painters do not register a company in Singapore, so they are not really liable to Singapore law. You can say they are in the gray area. If there is any problem during or after the painting, most probably they will not care about you, and you can’t report to the authorities.
The solution is to use local registered painting companies in Singapore, though we are more expensive than the illegal ones, but we are way more reliable painters. Have a great weekend!
A Journey Home: A Tale Of Singaporean Home Make Possible
I just saw one of our painting services customers, posted her newly purchased resale HDB flat journey, how she got the renovation contractor in, how she arrange to get things done, and of course she got SingaporePaintingServices in as well to paint their new home.
If you are interested to find out more, click here “A Journey Home”. They are still in the process of renovating, although it’s 70% done, and they have pictures of before and current progress too. Enjoy.
How Many Coats Of Paint Do We Apply On The Wall?
The recent questions that our customers make were, “How many coats of paint do you apply on the wall?”
The answer is basically 2 coats of paint. Why do we apply 2 coats is because this is the best number of coat of paint that will bring out the colour and economical for the client.
Why we do not paint 1 coat, you can view the post on the link.
There are instances where we have to use 3 coats, the first coat is the base coat of white, usually will use Nippon Matex. Then follow by 2nd and 3rd coat of paint, the clients choose. The reason for having the 3 coats is because the current wall colour is strong like black or bright red, and the colour that the client wants to have is a different colour.
Another example is that we need to use sealer as base painting, it may be due to old walls, moist walls, etc…
The price for painting 3 coats of paint will be more, and will be accessed by our painting contractors whether to use 2 or 3 coats of paint. Do contact us here using the form, the viewing is free and no obligation. By the way we offer 2 year warranty for using our painting services.
Unreasonable Painting Inquiriers: How Do We Handle Them
We have received a few unreasonable inquiriers to use our painting services before, asking us to do this, add that, decrease price, etc… And in the end comment to us that we did not serve them well, and that it’s their rights to have what they want (when they have not pay us yet).
This is what we will do. Ask them politely to engage some other painting contractors in Singapore, since we were not able to provide what they are asking for. BUT, sometimes (like today) they would insist/demand on using us for painting their home.
This is the part that we are most afraid of. We will always reject to take up their unreasonable painting jobs. Because we do not want to prostitute ourselves for making money from them, since we cannot take up their request. And we can move on to other more pleasant people.
With all said and done, we do not harbor any ill intent to these unreasonable inquiriers. But if they have not pay for our painting services and make any complaint to any of the forums or to any media, we will take action against this.
We will always welcome people who wants to inquire our painting services, JUST please be nice to us too, we are humans just like you. We make mistakes just like you too.
God bless you.
