1 Coat Painting: Why We Do Not Take Up

By PaintingGuy On April 20, 2011 666 views | 1 Comment

Customers have been asking us to paint 1 coat of paint for their house. The reasons are that they want to rent out their house, so a coat of paint will be enough and will be cheaper.

Second, is that some lousy painting contractors who did not do a good job for their client, so the clients needed touch ups for the walls that have not been painted well.

We are not able to provide painting services if only 1 coat of paint is used. Reasons being that the finishes do not look professional and nice, secondly we do not want to lower our wall painting standard.

Hope you can understand.

Difference Between Painting One Room To Whole House

By PaintingGuy On February 16, 2011 918 views | 3 Comments

A few of our customers have been asking the difference between painting a room compare to the whole house? Well there seem to have no difference, but the painting price and the number of colours to choose from will be 1 for a room. Why is that so?

Here are our explaination

1) As compare to painting the whole house to a room, the whole house will require more people (depending on the size of the house), whereas a room will typically be a one man painting show. It take a day for a one man to paint the 1 room, as there may be furniture in the room, only 1 man is there to move them around.  But for a team of painters will be different, they can help each other in moving, while the rest can prepare or even start painting. That is why HDB painting usually requires 2 days, unless you are living in a Maisonette HDB, which will take up to 4 days.

2) The cost of the painting materials for both are close in price. I am not taking about the number of containers of paint, I am referring to the equipments for the painting, like the painting brush, painting roller, masking tape, plastic drop sheet, etc… The most is only $30 difference, depending on the size of the house too.

3) As for the price of painting a room in Singapore, click on the link to read more….

We need to make a profit to survive in Singapore, as most of our painting workers are not local, we have to pay to taxes to use overseas workers to the  government. That will explain why the cost is such for painting 1 room.

Painters Workers In Singapore

By PaintingGuy On January 10, 2011 514 views | 2 Comments

Most of our painters are from overseas, they are from Myanmar. They have at least 5 years of house painting experience before we hire them.

To tell you the truth, most of the workers in Singapore especially working in the construction areas are from the overseas, they came here to earn a living and feed their family back home.

Is there no Singaporeans who are House Painters?

Well there are, but most of them are old timers. They cost a lot and because of their age, tend to be slow in their painting work. As Singaporeans are brought up in good education, the lowest level in education will be primary 6. But the living condition in Singapore is good, so most of the Singaporeans prefer a office work or even working in a restaurant, rather than a painter.

I have found out from our clients, that most of the best foreign painters are from Myanmar or Malaysia delivers the best painting services job in Singapore. But why these two nationalities? Our clients casually tell us that the other nationalities do not deliver the job well, and has a lot of bad experience in painting their home.

Imposing As SingaporePaintingServices.com

By PaintingGuy On November 9, 2010 406 views | No Comments

There has been some company trying to say they are Singapore Painting Services, they even say that they provide 2 years warranty just like us. But till I found out from this company’s customer Mrs Ong from Pasir Ris Street 21.

Mrs Ong called in today, mistakenly thinking we are that company (since the company also called themselves Singapore Painting Services), asking for Mike and George. I told her we do not have anyone by these 2 names. She asked again if we are Singapore Painting Services, and I said “Yes, we are. But we do not have Mike or George in our company”.

As Mrs Ong did contact us in Oct 2010, wanting to paint her house. After giving her a rough quote range, she wanted to discuss with her family, but she lost our contact number. Then she saw that the other company is advertising on the newspaper, using Singapore Painting Services as their name. Mrs Ong though that it was us, so she used them.

After Mrs Ong has confirmed the painting with them, she paid them upfront full. She saw they have their uniforms with our names too. Then the painting stopped halfway, and no work has been done. Mrs Ong tired to contact Mike or George, but they were not contactable. So she search online using “Singapore Painting Services”, and she found us.

I must say that for those who wants to paint their house, please find out what are the names of the contact person with their mobile number and their REAL company name or domain name. If those who have been doing this thing to Mrs Ong, they can also do this to you too.

If you want to find out their websites, search in Google using “singapore painting services”, scrolling down once the result is out, find Mike’s name there and you can find out more about them.

On Site Viewing For Painting: What Do We Do?

By PaintingGuy On October 25, 2010 617 views | 1 Comment

When we have made an appointment with the painting services prospects who want to paint their home/ office/ property. Here are what we will ask the house or office owners:

1) Type of paint. There are a lot of different brands of paint, like Nippon or ICI, which are the ones we prefer to use.

2) Colour of paint. Once the type of paint has been decided. It’s down to choosing the paint colours. There are usually more than 20 different colours to choose from a type of paint. Once the colour has been decided, we will take note of the colour code, and note down which wall to paint which colour.

3) Inspect the wall condition. We will also go around the house to check on the condition of the walls. This is because that if the walls are not in good condition to paint, we will need to do plastering to it, or paint it over a couple of times. This will also determine the cost of painting.

4) Expected date of start. The owner to inform us when to start the painting. A rough date range will do.

5) Send quotation (optional). Once the above is done. Quotation will be send to the interested painting party. We will only send the quotation upon request.

Note: Due to the availability of our manpower, it’s best if you can inform us at least a week to confirm the date of painting.

Invest Now, Or Pay For Repairs Later?

By PaintingGuy On September 18, 2010 740 views | 2 Comments

When I was in primary school, there was this story in one of my Chinese textbook, it talks about a man who has a problematic wooden door, it can’t be locked.

Thinking that Singapore is such a safe place to live in, he decided to ignore this seemingly petty problem, and go about doing his normal work and activities daily. After a few weeks – he cam back from work, he found that his house has been robbed, and most of his valuable items has been taken away.

He reported the case to the Police, they found out that there was no forced entry as the wooden door was not able to be locked. The police officer asked the owner, “Did you know about your wooden door -  it can’t be locked?”

Dangers of Cheap Painting Services in Singapore

Taken from www.chesterfield.ac.uk

He replied “Yes”. Police said “Then I guess you made this easy for the thief to walk in to steal your property, and I guess the insurance company will not be paying for your losses as well”.

What this story tells us – it is necessary to spend or invest in repairing the problem wooden door or even get a lock when the problem arises – and this will make sure the owner will be insured even if the thief steals from him.

With unethical and unprofessional painting contractors in Singapore, what you need is assurance and insurance from the painting contractors.

We SingaporePaintingServices.com has been very open and I can say – one of the most transparent painting contractor or painting company in Singapore. We have a 2 year warranty for those who uses our painting services. The risk is on us not you.

That will explain why we want to have an on-site viewing first before we can give you the actual quote. By giving an on-site quotation – you can be assured that the price is the most accurate with no add-on or top-up costs.

Why some painting contractors give quote on the phone without viewing the house?

A lot of painting contractors do not want to waste time in going to your house to give actual quotation, because of the transport fee they incur. Thus they will tell you that the price starts from, but no ending range price.

Whereas we have given you on our website or on our painting services blog – the price, and what happens if you have additional items that you need us to service on, then will there be additional charges.

There are some many horror stories I heard from those who called in, wanting us to help them touch up or even repaint the whole house again, because of unprofessional and cheap painting contractors. They have paid those un-pro and cheap contractors, and was not able to have them come back to paint again, as they deemed it was not profitable.

Yes, it is unprofitable for them. But who engaged them in the first place? It was the owner! As the owner paid them cheaply, so their work also is cheaply done for the owner. Do you want this to happen to your over $400,000 or more home? Think again about the time you have to spend again PLUS the money to repaint over again, is it worth it?

We are your assurance and insurance in getting your home painted professionally. Click fill in form for on-site viewing NOW. We promise that there will be no charges when we view your home. If you feel bad about this, you can always treat them to a drink when they are over at your soon-to-be beautiful home.
